makanai Since 1899, women working at the Yoshitaka gold leaf foundry in Kanazawa have seized the makanai* they had at disposal in the foundry's kitchen to create their own beauty concoctions and heal their skins. There recipes, based on green tea, rice bran and gold powder have been handed down from generation to generation.
