makanai Since 1899, women working at the Yoshitaka gold leaf foundry in Kanazawa have seized the makanai* they had at disposal in the foundry's kitchen to create their own beauty concoctions and heal their skins. There recipes, based on green tea, rice bran and gold powder have been handed down from generation to generation. Through this range of natural care, makanai pays tribute to the women of Kanazawa and conveys to us the secrets of Japanese beauty rituels, fruits of ancestral know-how and the rich resources offered by Japanese nature. *in Japanese "Makanai" refers to the "materials available at the workplace".
