To be provided in addition: cutter, ethanol (or disinfectant alcohol), water, vegetable oil, cloth, adhesive tape, stripper (avoid overly watery formulas), A4 paper or tracing paper.
Step 1:
Clean and prepare the items to be repaired.
Assemble the fragments using glue or resin depending on the type of break, then let dry.
Place tape to hold the fragments in place during drying.
Step 2:
Before the glue dries, wipe off any excess with a solvent.
Let stand for 10 minutes to harden. For items with many fragments, repeat the process.
Step 3:
Wear finger protectors.
Cut the epoxy putty into slices with a cutter, then re-cut to give it a pizza dough shape. At this stage, ensure that the ratio between the two colors is equal.
Mix the two colors to obtain a single, unmarbled color.
Step 4:
Remove the tape.
Fill the gaps with the mixed epoxy putty.
It hardens in 5 to 10 minutes, so this step must be done quickly.
While the putty is still soft, use a spatula to fill small gaps and cracks by rubbing it.
Step 5:
In case of chips resulting from a crack, protect the area with masking tape to prevent further damage.
Cut 400 and 1000 grit sandpaper into 1 cm squares.
Take the 400 grit sandpaper, add a little water and sand the chipped area to give it its shape.
400 grit sandpaper can easily scratch dishes, to avoid this, fold it when using it and avoid letting it come into contact with the dishes.
Wipe off the water and remove the masking tape.
Apply water to the 1000 grit sandpaper and sand to smooth the surface.
Step 6:
Wash and dry the brush.
If it has been used, there will be oil on it.
Pour a little alcohol onto an acrylic plate, fully dip the brush into it to wash it thoroughly.
Wipe the brush and acrylic plate with a paper towel, then wash them again with alcohol. Repeat this at least three times.
Step 7:
Put on gloves.
Place a drop of lacquer on the acrylic plate and add a slightly smaller amount of metallic powder with a spoon.
Mix the two elements with the spatula.
Dip the brush all the way to the base in the lacquer and remove any excess paint.
Paint along the crack from the inside out. Do not apply too thick a layer as this can prevent the inside from drying properly.
